YouTube Children's Privacy

If you are the parent of a child under the age of 13 in Massachusetts who watches videos on Youtube, you may be entitled to participate in a lawsuit against Youtube and Google for violations of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. On September 4, 2019, The Federal Trade Commission announced a record $170 fine against Google and Youtube for illegally collecting and storing personal information of children younger than 13, in violation of federal law.

 

Parents of children under the age of 13 in Massachusetts who use Youtube may also be entitled to collect damages for violations of their children’s privacy rights under Massachusetts law.
