Shapiro Haber & Urmy is investigating the improper disclosure of confidential medical or health information by various Massachusetts healthcare providers (including hospitals, urgent care facilities, and health insurers). Our investigation has revealed that numerous healthcare providers share the confidential health information with Google, Facebook, and other third parties, when patients or other health care consumers use the healthcare providers’ websites. They share such information without consent, often while telling the website users that they will not share it.

We have filed a case against UMass Memorial Healthcare relating to its improper sharing of patients’ and other health care consumers’ confidential communications with the UMass Memorial website. The complaint can be found here.

We are investigating similar improper practices at numerous Massachusetts healthcare providers, including Tufts Medical Center, Beth Israel, Dana Farber, Boston Medical Center, Charlton Memorial, Lahey Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, South Shore Medical Center Tufts Health Insurance Plan, and numerous urgent care facilities.

If you have visited websites of any healthcare providers, you may have a claim against them, and we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you about this matter. Please call us at 617-439-3939, or email attorney Patrick Vallely at pvallely@shulaw.com. You can also click here to contact us through our website.  We look forward to hearing from you.
