TikTok/musical.ly Children’s Privacy
If you are the parent of a child who created an account on the “TikTok” or “musical.ly” app while under the age of 13, you may be entitled to participate in a lawsuit against TikTok for violations of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. On February 27th, 2019, the Federal Trade Commission announced a $5.7 million penalty against TikTok for illegally collecting and storing personal data from children younger than 13, including location information.
We believe that parents of children who had TikTok or musical.ly accounts prior to Federal Trade Commission fine may also be entitled to sue and collect damages for violations of their children’s privacy rights. If your child used the TikTok or musical.ly apps while younger than 13, please call Patrick Vallely at (617) 439-3939 or (800) 287-8119 or email him at pvallely@shulaw.com. We would be happy to discuss your situation without any cost or obligation to you.
