Starbucks Bean Surcharge
- Were you charged a hidden $1.50 fee on coffee beans?
- Did Starbucks overcharge you for less than a half-pound of coffee beans?
Shapiro Haber & Urmy LLP is investigating Starbucks Corp.’s practice of adding a secret $1.50 bean surcharge when consumers purchased less than a pound of any kind of coffee beans. Starbucks did not disclose this extra $1.50 fee before the purchase, and consumers believed they were only paying a pro-rated portion of the posted per-pound price. For example, under this system, beans listed at $12.00 per pound ended up costing $7.50 for a half-pound (before tax), rather than $6.00, or half the listed per-pound price.
If you purchased less than a pound of coffee at a Starbucks prior to November 7, 2011, and paid more for Starbucks than expected because of the extra $1.50 fee, you may have a claim. Call us at (617) 439-3939 or click here to contact us through our website.
